Surface Web, Deep Web, Dark Web

Internet पर हम लोग जिसको access करते है, वह world wide web के 3 parts में divided है – surface Web जिसे हम लोग access करते हैं जोकि सिर्फ 4% है पूरे internet access का। फिर इसके बाद है deep web and dark web।

1. Surface Web- Surface Web का use हम daily करते है जैसे google या yahoo जैसे search engine पर की जाने वाली searching। इसकी websites ज्यादातर .com में होती है।

2. Deep Web- ऐसी website जिन्हें search engine के result से access नही कर सकते। Deep Web के किसी document तक access के लिए URL address पर जाकर login करना होता है। इसके लिए user name, password का use किया जा सकता है। इनमें banking, account, blogging website etc. आती है।

3. Dark Web- It’s a part of search engine but cannot be easily access on search engine. We need a special type of software for searching that called Tor. इसे normal browser या normal ISB से access नही कर सकते। Dark Web कुछ नही बस Deep Web का ही subset है। Dark website को Tor encryptions की help से hide कर दिया जाता है। ऐसे में कोई user इन तक गलत तरीके से access करे तो उसका data चोरी होने का खतरा बना रहता है।

Tor एक ऐसा platform है जिसमें thousands of VPN( virtual private network) एक साथ जुड़े रहते है उसे ही onion rating कहते है और Tor की website को .onion करके form किया जाता है। Tor में कई सारे onion rating होती है जिसमें कई सारे VPN होते है जोकि VPN किसी भी एक IP address पर नही टिका रहता fluctuate करता रहता है। यह पूरी तरह से anonymous होती है कौन website visit कर रहा है और किस की website है और कोई इसको track भी नही कर सकता। हालांकि Tor पूरी तरह से legal है हम इसको use भी कर सकते है क्योंकि इसका sponsored खुद google ही है। पर इसके अंदर जो website बनती है वो एक तरह से anonymous है। तभी दुनियाभर में ज्यादातर Crime Dark Web के through ही होते है।

History of Dark Web-

सबसे पहले anonymous (अज्ञात) online communication network का idea 1960 में आया जोकि ASPERNET (advanced research projects agency network) की form में था। ASPERNET का invention during the Cold War हुआ था U.S. के defense department द्वारा। जिसका main purpose Military को control करना था।

Then 1983 में ASPERNET को two parts में divide कर दिया गया 1. MILNET (military network) used by military and defense agencies । 2. आम नागरिक (for civilian version) जिसे बाद में Internet बोला गया ।

अगर देखा जाए तो Dark Web और ASPERNET दोनों same है, ASPERNET का new version ही Dark Web है।

We know that the Internet released to the world around 1983. लेकिन इसके बाद एक question rise हुआ कि इस Internet Data को हम कहां store करेंगे but हमें जो answer मिला to be stored in the form of Dark Havens (a data haven like a tax haven, refuge for uninterrupted or unregulated data).

It provides legal environment. मोटेतौर पर जो हम Internet पर search या देख सकते हैं वहीं Data Haven होता है।

थोड़े समय बाद August 1991 में Internet public के लिए available हो गया और इसी बीच एक illegal site NAPSTER form हुआ for music file sharing purpose. Along with it NAPSTER become online product sold site और लोगों को ऐसा लगने लगा कि Internet एक ऐसी shop है जहां जो चाहे जैसा चाहे product gain या sell कर सकते हैं। इसी के साथ illegal on-line transition भी होने लगे इन सबको देखते हुए In 2002 Tor का invention हुआ (A Private Internet Browsing Network), साथ ही before some time In 2000 Freenet (free software) release हुआ जोकि anonymous (गुमनाम) तरीके से file share, browser और freesite publish करने का मौका देता था, लेकिन जो popularity Tor को मिली Freenet को नही मिली। Freenet और Tor ने एक another software inspired किया I2P ( it gives a widespread access to anonymous internet browsing).

Tor- In 2002 Tor was released whenever we read about the Dark Web then we can not leave Tor (A instrument is creating a home for the dark web). Tor is a private internet browsing network, इसने Internet का face change कर दिया जिसने ऐसा environment दिया जिसमें लोग can browse online freely and anonymously.

Tor’s creators opened the door to dark side of Internet लेकिन creators को ये नही पता था कि इसमें criminal activity भी होना शुरू हो जाएंगी।

In 1960-1990 में demand हुई एक private network access करने की जिसमें government की access न हो और easy accessibility of any content तभी इन दोनों demand को Tor ने पूरा किया।

In 1990’s researchers David Goldschlag, Mike Reed, Pawl Syverson and U.S. Naval Research Lab give concern on Internet Security। इसी concern को देखते हुए Goldschlag, Reed and Syverson aimed to counter Internet traffic एक गुमनाम तरीके से। जिसमें multiple server और emcrypted को route किया जायेगा, जिसे onion routing कहा गया।

जब Tor को 2002 में release किया गया तब यह एक free और open software था। जैसे ही Tor को popularity मिली तभी लोगों ने oppressive government के अधीन लोगो के विचार publish करने की और restricted website पर access करने की बात कहीं। This demand motivated Tor’s creators to start developing a network in which users access government restricted websites, हालांकि Tor’s creators की intention सही थी इसलिए उन्होंने platform को free कर दिया।

In 2008 Tor became both easily accessible and user friendly, but जब Tor browser release हुआ तो यह समय की बात थी जब इस पर ज्यादा से ज्यादा Dark Websites सामने आने लगी।

Rise of Dark Web- with the release of private like Tor dark websites उभरने लगीं और ये dark websites illegal content host करने लगी। इसी बीच In 2009 Cryptocurrency का invention हो चुका था वैसे तो लोग Dark Web पर online illegal transaction करने से डरते थे क्योंकि thousand miles दूर बैठा customer कोई भी transaction के लिए अपने credit card और PayPal का use नही करना चाहता था क्योंकि कागज़ी निशान (paper trails) रह जाते थे। And we know that cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency that facilitates online transactions anonymously. जिसने इस problem को solve कर दिया। जिसे हम Bitcoin कहते है (Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin). इसने illegal transaction में revolution ला दिया साथ ही Dark Web में illegal sales बढ़ा दी क्योंकि before cryptocurrency illegal transaction on the dark web were hard to complete. इसके बाद तो कई मुद्दे सुर्खियों में रहे जैसे-

2010- Arab Spring (anti government protests) जिसमें पता चला Tor न केवल people की online identity protect करता है और साथ ही critical resources, social media and blocked websites पर access भी देता है।

2013- Silk Road Shutdown In 2011 Gawker affiliated blog published and expose on silk road- a dark web marketplace that buying and selling illegal drugs.

2015- PlayPen shutdown- PlayPen a widely used Dark website for distribution of child pornography.

2022- Pakistan PM office audio clips leaked through Dark Web.

Thus, जब तक online anonymity (गुमनामी) की मांग रहेगी तब तक Dark Web मौजूद रहेंगी।
